Teenage Summer Camp of the Ukrainian Red Cross

On June 10-14, the teenage summer camp of the Ukrainian Red Cross was held at the Kyiv Regional Center of the URCS in Irpin. The age group of children was 13-16 years old, the duration of the shift was 5 days. Anyone could apply for participation. The number of participants was 14.

The goal of the camp was to help teenagers acquire the necessary life skills to respond in an emergency. Such knowledge is extremely important, especially given the difficult situation in Ukraine. The theme of the camp is unique, as most children's camps are mainly entertaining. Despite the seriousness of the topics, the materials were presented in a simple and interesting way for the children.

The location is quite good, with a pine forest area nearby and cozy gazebos in the yard. Since the Bucha branch has a PSP center, the children had the opportunity to attend daily psychosocial support activities where they develop creative skills and work on their emotions.

The camp program included:

- familiarizing teenagers with the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society;

- training in first aid skills;

- attendance at psychosocial support events;

- familiarization with the rules of safety with explosive objects;

- attending YABC sessions;

- preparing individual and family first aid kits;

- Quests, outdoor games, orienteering skills in the woods, overnight stays in tents.

The camp is over, so we are looking forward to hearing feedback and reflections from our participants!
